The City’s Unicorn

Recently, I collaborated in an international convention of housing developers in the United States. One of the exhibitors was telling us that he was exhausted about the clients searching for the city´s unicorn.

What was he referring to? He was meaning about that dream house that everyone imagines, at a cost that turns it into a mythological figure more than to a market possibility.

As soon as I got back to our city I questioned myself: which would that city´s unicorn be? It didn’t take me that long to gather opinions from close people when I had it all figured out: the blue unicorn would be to own a private residence in San Pedro on a flat terrain with amenities and at an affordable 4 to 5 million pesos price. Doesn’t it sound impossible? That’s why it is the city’s unicorn. Perhaps there may be other unicorns located in different zones and sections, but I wanted to take a very representative one from the phenomenon “Implosion” that our city has had.

This implosion emerges in all it is about to appear on the surface where the poverty is defined by the social budget and non-economic. One of these project is “Alanza” a private sector that gathers all that the real estate unicorn represents (except for the price, unfortunately). Alanza is a concept consisting of 10 private houses created by Nest through the pencil of architect Rafael Adame. Definitely, the dream of a whole city made project.

And If we talk about San Pedro, we cannot forget to mention “Cuadro”. This developer understood long ago before the rest of the city even though that unicorn was impossible for house real estate, there would surely be much to try in vertical housing. Thereby launches his last attempt of photocopying the unicorn into apartments by means of “Belmont” apartments project in Alfonso Reyes in close proximity to the rainbow.

Alongside the upcoming launch of Housing Club of Arboleda, perhaps in a few years we would change our opinion around our mythological dream. The foresight is high; it would be memorable, according to the developers who fancied the concept.

This will be the new heart of San Pedro…

A total of 55 houses, that 4S located, that are constructed in a speculative manner in the Premium area of San Pedro must be joined to these launches; additionally, we are close to receive a commercial centre situated in the West side of San Pedro near Alfonso Reyes (before the UDEM) that could include housing in upcoming stages.

San Pedro is definitely the phenomenon of restoration, caused by the unicorn’s hunters.
